Who should attend: Residential aged care managers, admissions and finance / accounts team.

In this training session, our presenters will discuss:

  • Recovery of resident debts from their estates in complex situations.
  • Payment of RADs to third parties or when there is no grant of Probate or Letters of Administration.

The training will cover:

  • The Probate process and what to do if you don’t know if there is a Will, who the executor is or if no one is taking responsibility for the administration of the estate and you are stuck with the RAD (with interest!).
  • Dealing with third party RAD requests. Should you agree to refund the RAD to a third party and what safeguards can you put in place if you do?
  • Pitfalls in paying a RAD without a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration.
  • What is involved in recovering a debt when there are complexities surrounding the administration of the resident’s estate.
  • Dealing with next of kin and substitution decision makers to recover payment of a debt when the resident does not have capacity.

The session will be presented by Anita Courtney and Ilana Kacev who both regularly assist aged care providers.
