We have more than 25 years of experience supporting Victoria’s water sector to navigate the water industry restructure, major projects and commercial matters, administration law and regulation, pricing and essential services matters, trade waste, dispute, land and easement acquisition, planning and VCAT matters, Energy and Ombudsman issues.
We advise on groundwater licensing, water trading, compulsory water and sewerage schemes, infrastructure development and renewal, service agreements (water, sewage, trade waste) and EPA licensing and regulation.
We support local government councils with responsibilities regarding the operation, ownership and implementation of drainage and drainage schemes. We facilitate environmental audits and provide representation and advocacy for land catchment protection issues.
At Russell Kennedy, our river and catchment advice extends to community drainage schemes, discharge to rivers, vegetation establishment, soil conservation, floodplain, dry land and salinity issues, groundwater and land contamination and conservation farming practices.
We acted for the Department of Environment, Water, Land and Planning, and in various honorary capacities for the Institute of Water Administration and the Victorian Water Industry Association.
Leading Principal, Andrew Sherman, has been recognised on the Best Lawyers in Australia list for his water law expertise every year since 2012.
