Hannah Dickinson has over a decade’s experience as a specialist refugee and migration lawyer spanning community, government and private practice, including as Principal Solicitor and Head of Legal at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

She has particular expertise in public interest litigation, merits review, immigration detention, visa cancellation and law reform.

Experience

  • Acting in extensive public interest and strategic litigation in Australian federal courts, including constitutional challenges in the High Court of Australia, class action proceedings, injunctions, and habeas corpus matters.
  • Representing refugees, people seeking asylum and migrants in all jurisdictions, with particular expertise in complex matters including detention, visa cancellation, merits and judicial review, and for people affected by severe barriers to access to justice.
  • Developing and delivering CPD programs and resources on refugee and migration law, advocacy, and intersectional issues.
  • Leading a large community legal centre including triage, clinic and full-representation service design and delivery.
  • Policy and law reform expertise, including establishment and leadership of national policy organisation.
