Nick practices in the areas of government, planning and environment. where he represents government and private clients on complex government, environment and planning related matters.

Nick has a strong background in planning. Prior to practicing law, he worked as a qualified urban planner for a joint venture technical advisor to the Victorian Government on several major state rail infrastructure projects (including the Metro Tunnel and Regional Rail Revival projects). More recently, Nick was a Principal Solicitor at VicGrid, where he worked closely with a cross disciplinary team on the planning and development of Victoria’s Renewable Energy Zones and transmission infrastructure.

Experience

  • Providing advice to, and representing, government and private clients in relation to complex government, environment and planning matters, including statutory interpretation, planning scheme amendments, planning approvals, planning appeals, existing use rights, ancillary uses, rates and valuation disputes, development contributions, Aboriginal cultural heritage, heritage, environmental issues, covenants, easements, agreements, and infrastructure projects (including major projects and renewable energy projects).
  • Managing and coordinating cross discipline legal, project and expert teams to achieve desired outcomes, including preparing for, and instructing at, Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, Planning Panels, and Advisory Committees.
