Sarah acts on behalf of various government clients and statutory authorities including the Department of Justice and Community Safety, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and Victoria Police. She advises these clients in relation to prosecutions, professional conduct, coronial inquests and administrative law. Sarah was recognised by Best Lawyers 2020 for expertise in Government Practice. Sarah has specialist expertise in representing parties in Royal Commissions, including the Financial Services Royal Commission, the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and the Royal Commission into the Victorian bushfires.

Experience

  • Advising and litigating on behalf of government bodies including the Department of Justice and Community Safety and Victoria Police. Specifically, has acted on behalf of the Secretary to the Department of Justice and Community Safety for applications for Interim Supervision Orders, Supervision Orders and Reviews and Renewals of the Orders under the Serious Offenders Prosecuting on behalf of the Secretary to the Department of Justice and Community Safety for contraventions under the Serious Offenders Act 2018.
  • Acting on behalf of interested parties at coronial inquests including government bodies, aged care facilities employees of organisations, families of the deceased and have acted as instructing solicitor to the Coroner.
  • Providing advice to clients in relation to their responses to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses into Child Sexual Abuse and the Financial Services Royal Commission.
  • Providing training to Corrections Victoria staff.
  • Advising professional registration boards in professional conduct matters.
  • Advising on legislative amendment and statutory interpretation.
