Principal

Victor leads the Aged Care team and is a recognised senior practitioner in administrative and disciplinary law, health and aged care, prosecutions, government law and alternative dispute resolution. Victor has a Masters in Health and Medical Law and was named Best Lawyers' 2014 Melbourne Health and Aged Care Law "Lawyer of the Year" and was recognised in 2012 - 2021 for his expertise in Health and Aged Care Law. He was also recognised in 2014 - 2020 for his expertise in Government Practice and in Retirement Villages and Senior Living Law in 2017 - 2021.

Victor is currently conducting litigation in the Federal Court looking at the issue of additional services.

His expertise and passion are recognised nationally by providers, industry peaks and government. He serves as a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit, Risk Management and Compliance committee of RSL Life Care.

Bruce has more than 25 years’ experience in professional practice with a strong focus on aged care and the not-for-profit sector. He is a Member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, is a Chartered Tax Advisor through the Taxation Institute of Australia, a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and registered Company Auditor.

For over 30 years James has been a leader in the aged care industry working to ensure providers maximise their operations and profitability. As former CEO of a well-regarded aged care group, he has genuine insight into all aspects of aged care operations and is called upon by company directors, CEO’s and senior aged care managers to provide strategic advice, particularly in respect of revenue maximisation, workforce analysis, change management, property development, service commissioning and in assisting to build effective management teams.

As a strong advocate for the aged care industry, James has held positions on several industry bodies and working groups including LASA and the NSW-ACT Nursing and Management Advisory Committee (NAMPAC).

Anita Courtney

Anita Courtney

Principal

Anita is a principal in Russell Kennedy’s Aged Care team. She specialises in helping providers respond to, and challenge decisions of the aged care regulators including the Department of Health and Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

Anita’s experience includes assisting providers in understanding their legislative and compliance responsibilities under the Aged Care Act and its principles, privacy legislation, sanctions and other laws.

Anita regularly works with Pride Living and others to review providers’ additional services offerings to help them reduce their risks and is assisting Victor with the Federal Court litigation.
