Russell Kennedy has advised The Haven Community Limited (The Haven) on the sale of its aged care, home care and retirement living businesses, and associated land, to Catholic Healthcare Limited (Catholic Healthcare).
The Haven, based in Wagga Wagga, has sold its aged care, home care and retirement living businesses, and associated land, to Catholic Healthcare.
The decision to enter into the sale followed a detailed strategic review, and a decision by the board of The Haven, to focus on affordable housing with an emphasis on assisting other community organisations in the area. The acquirer, Catholic Healthcare, is a leading not-for-profit provider of Residential Aged Care, Community Services, Retirement Living and Healthcare in NSW and QLD.
The Russell Kennedy team was led by principal Solomon Miller and special counsel Rory Maguire (M&A/Corporate); principal Rosemary Southgate and senior associate Morgan Scholz (property); and senior associate Abbey Burns (Workplace Relations, Employment & Safety).
Solomon Miller said, “This is a significant and important transaction for The Haven and Catholic Healthcare, and for the aged care and retirement living market in the region. The transaction is a great demonstration of Russell Kennedy’s expertise in this industry and of our ability to manage cross-practice teams and advise clients on complex issues.”
The Haven was also advised by Ernst & Young, and Catholic Healthcare was advised by HWL Ebsworth Lawyers.
